Hawaii Destinations and Vacations

Like a string of diamonds, Hawaii sparkles under the Pacific sun. There is truly no place in the free world like the Hawaiian Islands, and no better place to discover or rekindle romance. From the moonlight shimmering on the Pacific to a serene afternoon kayaking across a calm lagoon, you can find romance in everything Hawaiian. Experience the magic of Hawaii on trip that you’ll always remember.

When you think of Hawaii, the first thoughts that inevitably come to mind are of its beautiful beaches, palm trees tilted towards the water’s edge, silky sand under your feet, and 80° water as clear as the sky is blue. Yet the Islands have more to offer than pristine coastline.

For instance, many cruise ships stop at Hilo, which is located on the Big Island. Hilo is the wettest city in the U.S., averaging 125 inches of rain per year; still, its plethora of waterfalls makes it quite a romantic backdrop. Walk through downtown Hilo, which has great shopping and restaurants for that one-of-a-kind souvenir or bite to eat. If you get the chance, visit Liliuokalani Gardens, a Japanese-Hawaiian garden with stone walkways, bridges, ponds, islands, and many other features that make for a lovely stroll.

Speaking of gardens, the “Garden Island of the Pacific,” Kauai, is also a dream destination that cruise ships often frequent. It achieved its name because of its myriad of flora and lush vegetation. Kauai is the northernmost and most ancient of the main Hawaiian Islands, believed to be created about 10 million years ago when an undersea volcano erupted. Hiking, scuba diving, and fishing are just a few of the activities that Kauai offers. You’ll enjoy the many waterfalls, the nature reserves, and mountains of Kauai.

Visit Kona, origin of macadamia nuts and Kona coffee. For quaint charm and great keepsakes, stop and say hello to the many local vendors on the island. Visit Hulihe’e Palace, once the vacation residence of Hawaiian loyalty or Moku'aikaua, the first Christian church constructed in Hawaii. If you’re an antique-lover, then these stops are for you.

Honolulu, Oahu’s most modern metropolis and the capital of Hawaii, this city has the best combination of natural wonders and urban excitement. First-class dining and unique shops line the streets of downtown. For a more reverent excursion, take a visit the USS Arizona Memorial and give respect to those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. Downtown Honolulu is fast-paced and exciting, so if you want to put your finger on the pulse of its nightlife, then you’ll want to make sure you include an overnight stay during your vacation.

Famous for its great surfing, Maui is a favorite among travelers to Hawaii. Still, with waves reaching 70+ feet during the winter, perhaps it’s best to just watch from the shoreline. Visit Kahului, Maui; located on the western side of Maui, Kahului features Maui’s only deep water harbor. Be sure to visit Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary and the exotic plant and animal species there. Maui has something to offer for every type of nature-lover: fertile rainforests, colossal mountains, and yes, flawless beaches—how could we forget! Aloha!
